White Turtlehead - Chelone glabra

Chelone glabra, commonly called White Turtlehead, is a clump forming perennial that grows to 2 – 3’ in wet, humus rich soil. The hooded, snapdragon-like flowers form tight, spike-like flower clusters in late summer to fall. Best used in shaded woodland gardens or bog gardens with consistent moisture. White Turtlehead may need support if grown in too much shade. Attracts bees and butterflies. Grow alongside other shade and moisture loving plants, such as ferns and jacob’s ladder.
