Texas Sedge, Carex texensis, is a low-growing perennial sedge native to the Eastern United States. Texas Sedge commonly grows in dry to moist, open woods and reaches 6 to 12 inches in length. Spreading by rhizomes, it creates a finely-textured mat of shiny foliage. Texas Sedge prefers part shade but can grow in full sun if provided irrigation through dry spells. An excellent choice for woodland ground covers or lawn replacements.
