Eastern Redbud - Cercis canadensis
 
Cercis canadensis, commonly known as Eastern Redbud, is a native deciduous tree admired for its ornamental value and early spring blooms. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils, typically found in forests, woodlands, and along woodland edges across eastern North America. Eastern Redbud blooms in early spring before its heart-shaped leaves emerge, producing clusters of small, pink to lavender flowers that attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Growing up to 20 to 30 feet tall, it forms a rounded crown with a spreading habit. Its foliage turns yellow in fall, adding seasonal interest to landscapes. Eastern Redbud is ideal for urban gardens, woodland settings, and native plant landscapes, where it enhances biodiversity and provides beauty throughout the seasons.
