White Wood Aster - Eurybia divaricata

White Wood Aster, Eurybia divaricata, is a native woodland wildflower whose evergreen foliage emerges 8 – 12″ each spring, and spreads slowly by underground rhizomes, but is not aggressive. The plant is transformed in the fall when small white flowers emerge atop burgundy stems, blooming continuously from August – November. It tolerates dry soil, but requires partial to full shade, growing 2 – 3′ in height and 2 -4′ in width.

We love this wildflower as a wonderful groundcover which tolerates a wide range of soil types and handles dappled shade to full shade in dry to moist soils. White wood aster is a great filler in any project that requires a broad stroke that can tolerate a variety of challenging conditions including dry shade.
