Golden Ragwort - Packera aurea
-
Packera aurea, common name Golden Ragwort, grows easily in average, medium to wet soils in full to part shade. We recommend part shade in warmer climates where its foliage will be evergreen through the winter months. Golden Ragwort will tolerate wet soil, where it will freely self seed and colonize. This American native produces a long and profuse spring bloom, attracting many butterflies. The daisy-like yellow spring blooms, a cluster of about 1″ across, sit atop sparsely-leaved stems rising 1 – 2′. The dark green leaves are slightly aromatic and are attractive. Use in naturalized shady gardens with ferns and woodland phlox.
