- Upright , clump forming perennial of the mint family.  
- Noted for its long blooming season beginning in early summer.  
- Blue terminal flower spikes may reach 6" in length, densely packed into showy clusters.  
- The flowers are attractive to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.  
- The aromatic leaves can be used to make tea.
