- Lead Plant features alternate, pinnately compound leaves with greyish-green leaflets and densely hairy twigs.

- This member of the bean family is a loosely formed deciduous shrub featuring slender, dense, 4-8" spikes of tiny bluish flowers with prominate gold anthers.

- Blooms May-June. Common name of lead plant refers to the once held belief that the plant was an incicator of the presence of lead in the ground.

- Good plant for naturalizing in a native wildflower garden or meadow.
