Fox Sedge - Carex vulpinoidea

Fox Sedge (Carex vulpinoidea) is well-suited for full sun to partial shade and thrives in moist to wet soils, making it an excellent choice for areas with poor drainage or near water features. This robust, clump-forming perennial reaches heights of 2 to 3 feet, with bright green, arching leaves that add a fine texture to the landscape. In late spring to early summer, it produces dense, spike-like clusters of tiny, reddish-brown flowers, giving the plant a distinctive and attractive appearance. As a native sedge, Fox Sedge plays a crucial role in stabilizing soil and reducing erosion, particularly in wetland areas. It provides valuable habitat and food for wildlife, including birds and insects. In landscaping, Fox Sedge is ideal for rain gardens, pond edges, and wet meadows. Its ability to thrive in wet conditions and its attractive foliage make it a versatile and functional addition to any garden focused on sustainability and native plantings.
